The unusual silence of young hero N T Rama Rao over the flexi-banner erected by YSR Congress party leaders in Vijayawada has baffled many political observers, besides causing confusion among the Telugu Desam Party workers.
The banner, put up by Perni Nani-Chitikena Yuva Sena comprised NTR’s picture along with that of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, rebel TDP MLA Kodali Nani and other YSR Congress party leaders, has created ripples in the political circles. Everybody expected that there would be strong protests from at least NTR fans associations, if not from NTR himself. But surprisingly, there was no reaction from any of them.
This has raised suspicions among the local TDP circles as to whether NTR is really inclining towards the YSR Congress party. When his close aide Kodali Nani quit the TDP and joined the Jagan camp, NTR quickly called a press meet and announced that he was cutting his links with Nani by all means and that he had no connection to the defection. He also kept himself away from the meeting of his close friend and TDP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi with Jaganmohan Reddy.
But now, NTR remained unusually silent, raising a lot of hush talk. However, NTR might have thought it would be below his dignity to talk about every small political development that was taking place without his knowledge.
“After all, there is no need for him to prove his loyalty to the TDP every time when the detractors play some trick,” a TDP leader argued.

Actor Sanjay Dutt has been convicted by the Supreme Court today in the Arms Act case that he was booked under in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. He has been given a 5 year sentence. He has served 18 months in jail already.
The actor was arrested in April 1993, a month after the serial blasts that ripped Mumbai apart and left 257 people dead and over 700 injured. Police said the AK-56 found in his house was from the consignment of arms smuggled into the country before the blasts. He was arrested and booked under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) and sent to Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail, where he did time for around 16 months before being granted bail.

In a latest twist to the “love marriage” of Madhuri (21), daughter of senior actress and Telugu Desam Party leader Kavitha, with her car driver Raj Kumar, took a new turn on Saturday with the police coming to know that it was the third marriage for him.
On Saturday, the police received complaints from two different women – Annapurna from Karimnagar and Jayasri from Warasiguda in Secunderabad, that they were already married to Raj Kumar. Jayasri came to the Warasiguda police station along with her daughter and lodged a complaint with the police, who took Raj Kumar into custody.
The police said Raj Kumar had married Annapurna in 2005 and Jayasri in 2008, in a similar fashion which he had adopted with Madhuri. He trapped both of them into a love affair and after marrying them, he fleeced them of their gold and money, before deserting them. In the case of Madhuri, too, he adopted the same strategy.
Interestingly, Madhuri who wilfully married Raj Kumar and gave interviews to the media with full consciousness changed her version later. She is now saying she was drugged with a sedative mixed in a cool drink and taken to a temple where he forcibly tied the knot. However, video clippings show she was very much active and happy when the wedding was taking place.
The Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) announced the party candidates for the coming Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council elections. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana finalized the party’s MLC candidates after discussions with party high command.
The Congress announced list of five candidates for the MLC elections. They are former minister Shabbir Ali from Nizamabad district, sitting member Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy from Khammam district, Santhosh Kumar from Karimnagar, Lakshmi Sivakumari from East Godavari district and Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy from Vizianagaram district.
Speaking to the media Botsa Satyanarana said that the name of the sixth MLC candidate was not finalized yet. The decision on sixth candidate would be announced on Monday. The MLC elections are scheduled to be held on March 21st.
The TDP finalized their list of MLC candidates for three seats. They are Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, MA Salim and Samantaka Mani. The existing TDP MLC Dadi Veerabhadra Rao expressed his disapproval for removing him. TDP president Chandrababu Naidu said that the decision was taken in the interests of the party and for social justice.
The candidates of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and YSR Congress have already filed their nominations for the MLC elections. TRS candidate Mohammed Mahmood Ali filed his nomination on Thursday while YSR Congress MLC candidate Aadireddy Appa Rao filed his nomination papers on Saturday for the MLC elections.

Hero-turned-character actor Naresh, son of actress-director Vijaya Nirmala, is all set to join the YSR Congress party very soon.
Naresh, who had earlier worked as BJP joint secretary in the state, made an announcement to this effect while participating in a programme in Kadapa district on Monday. He said he had quit the Bharatiya Janata Party as he was very much impressed by the programmes launched by late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
“The people are looking for a dynamic leader who can carry on the legacy of YSR. And it is none other than YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who can bring back the golden era of YSR,” he said.
Naresh predicted that by 2014 elections, the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party would become empty, as majority of the leaders would join the YSR Congress.
One wonders whether the entry of outdated actors like Naresh would fetch any mileage to the YSR Congress. However, Jagan might attract superstar Mahesh Babu, using Naresh and his parents – Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala, at least for campaigning. And that would get him a lot of advantage in the next elections.
